New UNU Research brief: Measuring Eco Innovation
Posted: 2008-11-03 | Updated: 2008-11-25
In current times of growing resource costs and widespread environmental degradation, much is expected from Eco-Innovation. “Measuring Eco Innovation” a research brief by Rene Kemp (UNU-MERIT) gives a conceptual basis for measuring eco-innovation and proposes guidelines for its practical application by researchers and policymakers. This includes knowledge base creation in eco innovation using patents, R&D and innovation output measures; providing comprehensive information about the eco-innovation behaviour of companies, the macro-effects of eco-innovation activities and the links between micro-macro level actions.

Competition Policy as a Tool to Promote Innovation in the Pharmaceutical Industry
Posted: 2008-11-03
Photograph by Darren Hester, Flickr.com
In light of the heavy criticism by developing countries of the ‘Northern’ bias of the WTO Working Group on trade and competition policy, this project drew on the results of an earlier UNU-MERIT project on “Health for Development”. A range of options were analysed for the design/redesign of the institutions, policies and interactions, needed to facilitate learning and innovation in developing countries. A book manuscript based on the study findings is close to completion.
